Nurtured in between three main branches of the East African Rift zone on the high plateaus of western Ethiopia is the fertile birthplace of the worlds first coffee plant. 78 volcanos peppered throughout both sides of the Great Rift Valley are responsible for the bountiful soil that yields such impressive results. Many historians believe that the Ethiopian invasion of the Arab peninsula in 500 A.D. was instrumental in the spread of coffee into Yemen and later the entire world. Although African & Arabian coffees vary greatly amongst one another in flavor profile, all display very distinctive winey and fruit toned characteristics.
